Welcome To My Classroom!
Hello! I am Teresa Hensel, English, German, and Theatre teacher at Suchandsuch High School. I cannot wait learn with all of you, but to begin, I want to you to know a bit about me.
I graduated from Lakeview High School in Battle Creek, Michigan, in 2013 (forever ago, I know). After studying at Kellogg Community College and the College of Saint Benedict/Saint John's University as a music student, I graduated from Western Michigan University with a degree in English in Secondary Education with a minor in German and Acting.
Outside of school (and yes, I do have a life outside of school), I remain very involved in the performing arts around the community, from teaching dance at Suchandsuch School of Dance and giving voice lessons at the community music school to performing with local theatres. I also work as a choreographer around the community. Yeah, your teacher's pretty cool.
My Teaching Philosophy
No matter the subject, my philosophy stands true. Every student has a story. Life goes on outside the walls of the school. It is my job, as a teacher, to make sure every single one of my students receive the best education and experience in education that they can. I may not reign over all the classrooms at our school, but when you're in my class, I will never judge you or treat you any differently because of your creativity, experience, determination, or fervor. If everyone was perfect at everything, I would be out of a job. As a teacher, it is my goal to be a conduit through which literature, culture, creativity, imagination, current events, and funny cat videos flow to my students' minds and hearts. Education is a team effort. It is journey we take together.
